JJR, the Landscape Architecture firm where I did marketing a few years ago was kind enough to have me in for a luncheon today. Some of their architecture partners from SmithGroup showed up too.
I presented a number of Clever Betsy items such as Carrie Myers cool bags, mittens and stockings. I had a lot of [...]

Bike it, walk it, just don’t drive it!
The Active Transportation Alliance was at today’s farmer’s market. They have some fun events coming up! Check ‘em out!
Active Trans’s Footprints coaches get hungry. Helping Southland residents find great bike routes, get their bikes in shape, and figure out the transit routes takes a lot of expertise and energy. And when they get hungry, they [...]
Spain’s Solar Tower a Work of “Green” Art
The new solar tower in Seville Spain is absolutely gorgeous. I watched a Discovery Channel documentary about it recently and was just in awe! Now I like to read any articles I see about it. I’ve posted a few of the more interesting below.

New Paper Craft Artist
Ok, I generally endorse the reduction of paper consumption and packaging. However, weddings, baby showers and other such special occasions are definitely the exception to the rule! So are rainy days when a good friend needs a funny card to pick them up off the floor!
To offset these indulgences, Clever Betsy is pleased to provide [...]
Southtown Paper Production Decreases
Crain’s reported today that The SouthTownStar newspaper, an off-shoot of the Sun Times, is consolidating it’s runs, thereby saving paper, ink and production. Way to go SouthTown Star!
According to Crain’s “Beginning this week, a Weekend Edition will be published on Fridays that combines the features that used to be found in Friday and Saturday papers. [...]
Electric Battery Swap Out Plan
There is a company called “Better Place” that has a mission to create stations where a battery in an electric car could be swapped out faster than a traditional gas station could fill a car. I love the concept and I’m looking forward to seeing how the execution plays out…

Movie Review – “earth”
The movie “earth” gets three stars from Clever Betsy who rates on a five point scale. It is a beautiful documentary style film. However, it doesn’t hit it’s childhood audience exactly. The artistic scene progressions are too long to hold the interest of today’s children who have been programmed to think in increments of seconds [...]
Google Earth – and Now Ocean
Happy Earth Day!
I think the coolest thing I’ve seen so far today about the environment is Google’s release of their expansion of “Google Earth” to include the oceans.
“In the new ocean layer, you can plunge all the way to the floor of the sea, view exclusive content from partners like BBC and National Geographic, and [...]
Exciting Residential Green Roof Project
Look what I stumbled across on the web! A residential green roof that has been successfully growing for the past couple of years: http://www.delafleur.com/168_Elm/index.htm
This is such an exciting project! I hope we start to see many more residential green roofs in the coming years.

Oh the Hipocrsy – Trying to be a good environmentalist – Still only pale green!
I try to be a good environmentalist but I still feel that I have a lot to change. I do my best to conserve water and reduce energy consumption around our home. We’ve made a lot of changes like upgrading all of our appliances to be energy efficient, washing with cold water most of the [...]
