So my grandfather is celebrating his 88th birthday at an inpatient rehab center. He broke the ball in his hip about a week ago. Man, even just saying that it sounds so painful. But he’s overcoming, as always. He’s tough as nails! He survived the great depression by eating turnips every day. With the hospital food he’s having to eat, he’s probably wishing for those turnips again now! Poor gramps!
I just wish I could be there to visit him. I live in the Chicago area and he’s in Oklahoma. Needless to say, I’m not able to just pop in and give him a hug!
I decided to send him some flowers and goodies. But I kept thinking “I really wish I could send him some pictures of my kids.” Their smiley little faces would cheer anyone up! Especially their great grandpa! I searched on Google and found a florist named Dupree Flowers and Gifts in Clinton Oklahoma. Glenda there was so kind. She helped me accomplish my vision for a customized gift and it turned out so well I want to share the idea with my readers.
We created a bright carnation bouquet crowned with my children’s impish smiles! To accomplish this bouquet
- I got a florist to conspire with me. (Thanks again Glenda!)
- Sized 9 photos of my kids to approximately 2 inches by 3 inches on two slides in powerpoint.
- Then I made a pdf so I could reduce the file size.
- I e-mailed the pdf to Glenda at the florist shop and she printed the images in color and cut them out.
- Glenda assembled a lovely bright carnation bouquet and then used the tines that they normally put the card in to hold the photos of my boys so that they could peek out throughout the flowers.
- We also sent great grandpa some snacks so that he wouldn’t have to wish for turnips anymore!
We love you great grandpa!!! Feel better soon!
